Tarek Ben Hashem Crowned African Champion in Freestyle Wrestling (57 kg)

Moroccan wrestler Tarek Ben Hashem claimed a well-deserved gold medal in the 57 kg freestyle wrestling category at the African Wrestling Championship, which brought together some of the continent’s top talents.

Tarek began his journey in the tournament with a high-intensity bout against Algerian wrestler Chebbani, where he showcased technical and physical superiority, securing a clear victory on points. This win paved the way for a confident entry into the final.

In the final match, he faced Makaya from Angola, known for his aggressive and powerful style. However, Tarek Ben Hashem managed the bout with great tactical intelligence, dominating in maneuvers and strategy to seal the win and capture the gold medal, earning widespread praise from fans and spectators.

This achievement reflects the tremendous efforts of the Moroccan technical staff and reaffirms that Morocco is home to talents capable of shining on continental and global stages. Tarek’s victory is a source of national pride and serves as an inspiration for young wrestlers across the Kingdom.

It is also worth noting that the Moroccan women’s team finished second overall, thanks to the outstanding performances of several athletes—most notably Malak Sabri, who won gold in the 73 kg category, cementing her position as one of the rising stars of African wrestling.
